176 bpm.

Due to a tilted uterus (thanks Mom!), we got to see Baby Reeder yesterday!! We had an ultrasound to date my pregnancy because the doctor couldn't sufficiently do it during my exam last week. So yesterday at 11:20, the husband and I got to see our little one on a fuzzy little screen. Of course, this was an internal ultrasound, so it wasn't all that glamorous (can you say awkward?), but I didn't care. I was told not to expect to see much, but what we saw was incredible! The tech found the baby right away - he/she is the size of a green olive now! And right there, in the middle of the baby blob on screen was a flicker - the heartbeat. Then, as if she knew I could use extra reassurance that all was well, she turned up the volume and let us listen to it. 176 bpm - nice and strong. One of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. Baby R is measuring right on track, so we've got a due date of December 23rd.

I'm so happy to share the first photos of the little one. I think he/she looks like a potato (or a sweet potato, as my dad decided!), especially in the 3D photo below. Side Note: When I showed the pics to my brothers, one made sure to note that these were taken using GE technology, which amused me. The other, after being told that some of the images were in 3D, preceded to move the pic back and forth from his face as if expecting the baby to pop off the picture like in a comic book. I told him he needed those red and blue 3D glasses for that...
