Prepared for 1.

Tomorrow, my baby will be one.

It's hard to wrap my mind around it. She's not really even a baby anymore; she's a full-fledged toddler. And tomorrow, all of our family & friends will gather to celebrate with us, as they did exactly one year ago.

It's crazy to think that one year ago at this very minute I was about 17 hours into labor, contracting like a maniac, but making absolutely zero progress. I had no idea I'd be in labor for 29 more hours (that's a ridiculous sentence to even type, how the hell did we survive 46 hours?!) I had no idea one year ago at this very moment that in 29 hours (plus a few minutes) I'd be meeting my new best friend. And I'd love her so much my heart would actually hurt. And that my first reaction to meeting her would be "Oh my goodness, she's so big!" And one year later, I still constantly think "Oh my goodness, she's so big!"

Am I freaking out that she's turning one tomorrow? My precious little baby? Nah. It's thrilling. She's growing up so beautifully and I am so excited for what lies ahead with her. I'll tell you what I am freaking out about though. In just 1 short year, we'll have a running/talking/sassy little character in this house that will be entering the Terrible Twos. And in just 2 short years, she'll be telling me what kind of birthday party she wants to have and not the other way around. And in just 12 short years, she'll be a *gulp* teenager. And in just 15 short years, she'll be days away from getting her drivers' license (unless laws change and she still has to be a in car seat then...) And in just 20 short years, I'll be buying her a Lemon Drop at the Fieldhouse to celebrate her new legality.

These things freak me out. But one? We can handle one. We're prepared for one. We're so, so excited for one :)
